ISSUE:
A rattling noise may come from the dash panel area, which can be isolated to the air conditioning evaporator case. Variations between the evaporator core and the evaporator case may allow movement of the core inside the case.

ACTION:
Fabricate two (2) foam rubber seals, using closed cell foam rubber. Install these seals between the evaporator core and the evaporator case. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Remove the blower motor and wheel assembly from the evaporator case. Refer to the appropriate year Tempo/Topaz Service Manual, Section 12-03A, for the removal procedure.

2. Wedge a strip of closed cell foam rubber, 1/2 X 1/2 X 1-1/2" (12.7 X 12.7 X 38. 1 mm), between the evaporator core and the evaporator case wall. Install at two places at the seam between the case halves as shown in Figure 1.

3. Press the foam rubber firmly into the space to secure it.

4. Install the blower motor and wheel assembly.

5. Check the blower motor operation.
