Known Good Coil:

1. Disconnect ignition coil connector and check for dirt, corrosion and damage, then connect to a known good ignition coil.
2. Connect a known good spark plug wire between ignition coil and spark tester. Do not hold coil while performing test, dangerous voltage may be present.
3. Crank engine and note if spark was present.
4. If spark was present, measure resistance of coil wire and replace if greater than 7,000 ohms per foot. If coil wire is satisfactory, replace ignition coil.
5. If spark was not present, reconnect connector to vehicle coil and spark tester to vehicle spark plug wire and proceed to Test 8.
