Heater Core: Service and Repair



1. Remove heater case as follows:
a. Remove I/P as described under ~``Instrument Panel, Replace.''
b. Drain coolant and disconnect heater hoses from heater core extension tubes.
c. Remove rivets and both defroster hoses.
d. Remove main air duct connecting heater case to blower case.
e. Roll back carpet to gain access to lower duct and lower mounting bolts.
f. Disconnect lower duct from heater case.
g. Remove wiring harness and cable ends from heater case.
h. Remove two lower bolts, two upper nuts and one center nut from blower case.
i. Remove heater case.
2. Remove three screws attaching heater core cover to heater case and remove cover.
3. Loosen clamps and remove extension tubes from heater core, then remove O-rings from outlet tube.
4. Remove heater core by pulling straight out.
5. Remove extension tubes and grommets if necessary.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
