Cylinder Identification Sensor: Description and Operation

Cylinder Identification (CID) Sensor:

The Cylinder Identification (CID) sensor is located in the distributor and provides accurate position of cylinder #1 TDC compression stroke. The Electronic Control Assembly (ECA) receives an input signal as the slotted disc inside the distributor passes through the fixed photo sensor. The ECA uses this signal to modify injector timing.
