Removal and Installation

1. Remove battery and battery tray assembly.
2. Remove air duct hose and resonance chamber from engine.
3. Disconnect speedometer cable at transaxle assembly.
4. Remove retaining clip from slave cylinder line, then disconnect slave cylinder line from slave cylinder and plug hose.
5. Disconnect ground strap from transaxle.
6. Remove tie wrap, then disconnect three electrical connectors located above transaxle.
7. Remove electrical connector support bracket.
8. Mount Engine Support Bar tool No. D88L-6000-A or equivalent, and attach it to engine hangers.
9. Remove three nuts from upper transaxle mounts.
10. Loosen upper mount pivot nut, then rotate mount out of way.
11. Remove three bolts, then upper transaxle mount bracket.
12. Remove two upper transaxle-to-engine bolts.
13. Raise and support vehicle.
14. Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.
15. Remove inner fender splash shields.
16. Drain transaxle fluid.
17. Remove halfshaft assemblies from transaxle.
18. Install two Transaxle Plugs (part No. T88C-7025-AH) or equivalent, between differential side gears.
19. Remove plenum support bracket.
20. Remove starter motor.

Extension Bar and Shift Control Rod:





21. Remove extension bar from transaxle.
22. Remove shift control rod from transaxle assembly.
23. Remove both lower splash shields.
24. Remove two transaxle mount-to-crossmember nuts.
25. Remove lower crossmember.
26. Remove front transaxle mount.
27. Position transmission jack or equivalent, under transaxle, then secure jack to transaxle assembly.
28. Remove five lower engine-to-transaxle bolts.
29. Lower transaxle out of vehicle.
30. Reverse procedure to install.
