Cylinder Identification Sensor: Description and Operation
Cylinder Identification (CID) Sensor:
PURPOSE The Cylinder Identification
(CID) sensor detects cylinder #1 Top Dead Center
(TDC) compression stroke. The Electronic Control Assembly
(ECA) uses this signal to calculate injector timing.
OPERATION The ECA receives an input signal when the reluctor mounted on the distributor shaft rotates past a fixed magnetic pickup.
