LINCOLN-MERCURY:
1989-93 COUGAR

ISSUE:
An air conditioning compressor "moan" may be heard during idle and up to 1,500 R.P.M. The noise may also be described as a "groaning" or "growling" (low pitched humming) sound.

ACTION:
Install new hose assemblies which incorporate a muffler on both the suction and discharge side of the compressor. Use an accumulator and switch assembly (F1SZ-19C836-B) on the suction side and a manifold and tube assembly (F1SZ-19D734-B) on the discharge side. Refer to the 1992 Thunderbird/Cougar Service Manual, Section 12-03, for service details.
