Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Cruise Control Servo: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect eight pin connector from amplifier.
2. Connect an ohmmeter between orange/yellow (circuit 144) and gray/black (circuit 145) leads at eight pin connector. Resistance should measure 40-125 ohms.
3. Connect ohmmeter between orange/yellow (circuit 144) and white/pink (circuit 146) leads at connector. Resistance should measure 60-190 ohms.
4. If resistance readings are satisfactory, proceed to step 5. If resistance readings are not satisfactory, check wiring and servo separately for damage and replace or service as necessary.
5. Start engine and check as follows:
a. Ensure servo is disconnected from amplifier.
b. Connect orange/yellow (circuit 144) to battery positive terminal.
c. Connect white/pink (circuit 146) lead of servo to ground and momentarily touch gray/black (circuit 145) lead of servo to ground.
d. Servo throttle actuator arm should pull in and engine speed should increase.
e. Remove white/pink (circuit 146) from ground, servo should release. Do not short orange/yellow (circuit 144) to either the white/pink (circuit 146) or gray/black (circuit 145). Amplifier could be damaged.
