Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System Components:

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the front catalytic converter flange fasteners.
3. Loosen rear U-bolt connection and disconnect air hoses.
4. Separate catalytic converter inlet and outlet connections.
5. Remove flex joint gasket and discard.
6. Remove the catalytic converter.
7. Clean all mating surfaces.
8. Install converter to muffler.
9. Using a new gasket, install converter and muffler assembly to inlet pipe/flex joint.
10. Connect the air hoses and position rear U-bolt.
11. Align the exhaust system and tighten all fasteners, starting at the front of the vehicle. See image for torque specifications.
12. Lower the vehicle, START the engine, and check the exhaust system for leaks.
