REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove heater assembly as follows:
a. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain coolant.
b. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core at bulkhead.
c. Remove storage bin.
d. Remove right and lefthand kick panels.
e. Remove control console bezel attaching screw, then remove bezel.
f. Remove four ashtray housing attaching screws, disconnect cigar lighter illumination lamp electrical connector, then remove ashtray assembly.
g. Remove climate control panel, then radio assembly.
h. Remove floor duct attaching screws, then remove duct.
i. Remove right and lefthand knee reinforcement plates.
j. Remove ABS module, speed control module, keyless entry or power door lock module and passive restraint module.
k. Remove two center register duct attaching screws, then remove duct.
l. Remove two ground wire attaching bolts.
m. Remove U bracket to chassis attaching nuts, then U bracket attaching bolts and remove bracket.
n. Remove right and lefthand console bracket bolts and remove brackets.
o. Remove glove compartment box and illumination lamp.
p. Remove righthand inner and outer and lefthand inner ducts.
q. Remove accelerator pedal attaching bolts and remove pedal, then accelerator pedal stop screw and remove pedal stop.
r. Remove floor distribution duct attaching screw, then remove duct.
s. Remove temperature blend panel bypass door actuator.
t. Remove panel/floor/defrost door actuator.
u. Remove center distribution duct attaching screws, then remove duct.
v. Remove four evaporator blower assembly attaching screws to air heater assembly removal.
w. Remove four heater assembly attaching screws, then remove heater assembly.
2. Remove heater pipe plate attaching screws, then remove plate.
3. Remove heater core retainer.
4. Disconnect heater core shutoff valve control rod, then remove heater core assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque accelerator pedal bracket bolts to 27-34 inch lbs.
b. Torque U bracket attaching bolts to 29-39 inch lbs.
c. Torque U bracket to chassis attaching nuts to 71-97 inch lbs.
