Body and Frame: Service Precautions

DISARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Allow at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove two screw and washer assemblies retaining driver's air bag module to steering wheel.
4. Attach Rotunda Air Bag Simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to air bag terminals on clockspring assembly to simulate air bag.
5. Remove passenger's side air bag as follows:
a. Remove righthand and lefthand finish panels.
b. Remove instrument panel finish panel retaining spear clips.
c. Open glove compartment and press side inward, then lower glove compartment to floor.
d. Working through glove compartment opening, remove two lower air bag module retaining bolts.
e. Remove four remaining air bag module retaining screws from side of air bag cover, then disconnect electrical connector attached to lefthand side of air bag.
f. Remove air bag module.
6. Connect a second air bag simulator 105-00010, or equivalent, to wiring harness in place of passenger's air bag module.
7. Connect battery ground cable.

ARMING
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Wait one minute for back-up power supply to deplete.
3. Remove air bag simulator from clockspring connector.
4. Position driver's air bag on steering wheel and secure with screw and washer assemblies.
5. Proceed as follows for passenger's air bag:
a. Remove air bag simulator from vehicle harness.
b. Connect electrical connector to air bag module in instrument panel.
c. Install four upper retaining screws.
d. Install lower module retaining bolts.
e. Return glove compartment to correct position.
f. Install instrument panel finish panel locator pin in air bag bushing locator, then align spear clips and press finish panel into place.
6. Connect battery ground cable.
7. Place ignition switch in RUN position and note air bag warning lamp operation. Indicator lamp should illuminate for approximately six seconds, then turn OFF.
