With Malfunction Indicator Light or Analog Voltmeter

NOTE: Correct results of the quick tests are dependent on the proper operation of related non-EEC-IV components.


INSPECTION
1. Turn ignition "OFF", place the transmission in "PARK" (A/T) or "NEUTRAL" (M/T), and place blocks around a wheel.
2. Inspect the air cleaner and inlet ducting.
3. Check all engine vacuum hoses for damage, leaks, cracks, blockage, proper routing, etc.
4. Check Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector and Electronic Engine Controls (EEC) system wiring harness for proper connections, bent or broken pins, corrosion, loose wires, proper routing, etc.

NOTE: It may be necessary to disconnect or disassemble harness connector assemblies to do some of the inspections. Pin locations should be noted prior to disassembly.

6. Check the engine coolant, engine oil, and transmission fluid for proper level.
7. Make all necessary repairs prior to continuing with test preparation.


PREPARATION
1. Turn off all electrical loads (radios, lights, A/C-heater blower fans, etc.).
2. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
3. Connect a timing light to the engine.
4. Perform Key On Engine OFF self-test. Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self Test
