Preliminary Checkout and Equipment

CHECKOUT
1. Visually inspect the engine compartment to ensure all vacuum hoses and spark plug wires are properly routed and securely connected.
2. Examine all wiring harnesses and connectors for insulation damage, burned, overheated, loose, or broken conditions.
3. Be certain the battery is fully charged.
4. All accessories should be OFF during diagnosis.

EQUIPMENT
Obtain the following test equipment or an equivalent.
1. Spark Tester, (Special Service Tool D81P-6666-A).

NOTE: A spark plug with a broken side electrode is not sufficient to check for spark.

2. Engine Analyzer, (Rotunda 002-00373).
3. Volt-Ohmmeter, (Rotunda 014-00407 or 007-00001).
