Removal
CAUTION: This vehicle is equipped with a composite material fuel supply manifold. If the supply manifold is used as a leverage device, damage may occur to the supply manifold. Care must be taken when working around the fuel supply manifold.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the hood.
3. On A/C equipped vehicles, recover the A/C system.
4. Relieve the fuel pressure.
5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
6. Remove the radiator, the fan blade, and the fan shroud.
7. Disconnect the engine electrical connector.
8. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the PCM electrical ground wire.
10. Disconnect the engine ground wire.
11. On A/C equipped vehicles, disconnect the A high pressure switch electrical connector.
12. On A/C equipped vehicles, remove the bolt arid position the A/C lines aside.
13. Disconnect the two heater water hoses.
14. Disconnect the fuel line.
15. Raise and support the vehicle.
16. Remove the starter motor.
17. Drain the engine oil.
18. Install the oil drain plug.
19. Remove the bolts.
20. Remove the bolts.
21. Disconnect the transmission electrical harness connector.
22. Disconnect the RH and LH heated oxygen (HO2S) sensor electrical connectors.
23. Position the transmission cooling line bracket aside.
24. On A/C equipped vehicles, remove the A/C line bracket nut and position it aside.
25. Disconnect the power steering return hose.
26. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose.
27. Disconnect the vapor management valve (VMV) hose connector.
28. Remove the transmission to engine bolts.
29. Remove the LH and the RH engine support insulator nuts.
30. Lower the vehicle.
31. Remove the RH engine insulator nuts.
32. Remove the LH engine insulator nuts.
33. Note: The lifting eyes should be installed on the exhaust manifold studs for number three and number four cylinders.
Install the lifting eyes.
34. Install the spreader bar to the lifting eyes.
35. Attach a floor crane to the spreader bar and remove the engine.
36. Remove the flywheel.
37. Remove the spacer plate.
38. Install the engine on a suitable engine stand.
