Backing Plate: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the brake drum.

2. Disconnect the parking brake cable.
3. Remove the wheel cylinder.

4. Unclip the parking brake cable and conduit from the brake backing plate and route the cable and conduit out of the backing plate.

5. Remove the bolt and the ABS sensor. Discard the bolt.

6. Remove the bolts and the backing plate. Discard the bolts.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Use new bolts.
