Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.

NOTE: The rear Heated Oxygen (HO2S) Sensors are shown, the front two HO2S are similar.







2. Disconnect the HO2S electrical connector.







3. Remove the HO2S from the exhaust manifolds and exhaust pipe using the special tool.
^ If necessary, lubricate the heated oxygen sensors with Penetrating and Lock Lubricant E8AZ-19A501-B or equivalent to assist in removal.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Apply a light coat of High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Compound F6AZ-9L494-AA meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the threads of the Heated Oxygen Sensors (HO2S).
