Normal Operation
The rear only parking aid system is enabled when the vehicle ignition is in RUN and transmission is in REVERSE. For a front and rear system the front and rear sensors will always be active when the transmission is in REVERSE with the vehicle ignition in RUN. When the transmission is in DRIVE the front sensors will be active if the vehicle speed is above 0 km/h and below 8 km/h (5 mph). If the vehicle is in drive and has a speed of 0 km/h, the front sensors will only be active for 5 seconds before being deactivated. The system can be disabled by the reverse parking aid switch. A 750 Hz variable warning tone is generated from a parking aid speaker attached to the parking aid module. The parking aid speaker increases the warning tone rate as the vehicle gets closer to an obstacle.
Possible Causes
- parking aid switch
- parking aid module
- circuit 1435 (DG/VT) shorted to ground
