PINPOINT TEST K: THE SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER IS INOPERATIVE

Test K1-K3:

Test K4-K5:

Normal Operation
Vehicle speed information is sent to the anti-lock brake system/traction control/stability assist (ABS/TC/stability assist) module from each of the 4 wheel speed sensors. The vehicle speed information is then sent to the PCM by the ABS module over the SCP communication network, circuits 914 (TN/OG) and 915 (PK/LB). The PCM provides the vehicle speed to the instrument cluster over the SCP communication network. The instrument cluster uses the vehicle speed rolling count status from the PCM to calculate and display the current odometer reading. If the instrument cluster does not receive odometer rolling count status for 2 seconds, dashes will be displayed in the odometer display and the ABS warning lamp will be on.

Possible Causes
- ABS/TC/stability assist module
- PCM
- instrument cluster
