Test N
PINPOINT TEST N: THE SAFETY BELT WARNING INDICATOR IS INOPERATIVE (CHIME IS OPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY)Test N1-N4:
Normal Operation
The safety belt switch is hardwired directly to the RCM through circuit 85 (BN/LB) and grounded through return circuit 1558 (TN/BK). The instrument cluster receives the safety belt switch status from the RCM through circuit 1083 (LB/PK). The RCM monitors resistance between the safety belt switch and the return circuit. The RCM then signals the instrument cluster when the safety belt is unfastened to illuminate the safety belt warning indicator. A safety belt minder chime that is operating correctly indicates that the RCM is monitoring and transmitting the correct operation of the safety belt status to the instrument cluster.
Possible Causes
- circuit 1083 (LB/PK) open short to power or ground
- RCM
- instrument cluster
