Heater Core

HEATER CORE

















Removal and Installation

NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Position the front seats fully rearward.
3. Depower the supplemental restraint system.
4. Remove the wiper motor and pivot assembly.
5. Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings.
6. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
7. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
8. Lower the glove compartment.
9. Remove the 3 steering column opening panel lower bolts.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

10. Remove the steering column opening panel cover.
11. Remove the steering column opening panel upper bolts.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

12. Remove the steering column opening panel reinforcement.
13. Remove the 4 storage console pin-type retainers.
14. Remove the storage console.
15. Remove the rear seat floor duct adapter.
16. Remove the upper instrument panel finish panel.
17. Remove the LH lower instrument panel bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

18. Remove the LH upper instrument panel bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

19. Remove the 4 upper instrument panel bolts.
20. Remove the upper instrument panel cowl bolt.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

21. Remove the 4 instrument panel center support brace bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

22. Remove the LH instrument panel support bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).

23. Loosen the RH instrument panel bolts one half of the bolt length, but do not completely remove the bolts.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).







24. Working through the glove compartment opening, remove the RH instrument panel support bracket bolt.
25. Position the LH side of the instrument panel slightly away from the dash panel.
26. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing support brace nut.
27. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing support brace bolt.
28. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing support brace.
29. Remove the 4 floor duct screws.
30. Remove the floor duct.
31. Remove the 7 heater core cover screws.
32. Detach the wire harness from the heater core cover.
33. Remove the heater core cover.
34. Remove the heater core.
35. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
36. Fill the engine cooling system.
