Test Z: The Stability/Traction Control Indicator Is Never/Always On

PINPOINT TEST Z: THE STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

Normal Operation
The stability/traction control indicator flashes when the vehicle stability/traction control is in active mode or is being controlled by the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. The instrument cluster receives the stability/traction control data from the ABS module over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. The instrument cluster monitors the stability/traction control message and when the ABS module detects a stability/traction control concern, the instrument cluster illuminates the stability/traction control indicator. If the stability/traction control message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0121 (except Hybrid) or U0129 (Hybrid only) in continuous memory and defaults the stability/traction control indicator on.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Stability/traction control system concern
- ABS module
- Instrument cluster
