TI1 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1A08: CHECK FOR SELF-TEST DTCS
Is transaxle control module (TCM) DTC P1A08 present during the self-test?
YES
For KOEO DTC P1A08, GO to TI3

For continuous memory DTC P1A08, GO to TI2.
NO

TI2 CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTC P1A08: CLEAR AND RETRIEVE TCM CONTINUOUS DTCS
Note: Diagnose and repair any PCM and TCM KOEO and KOER self-test DTCs before entering this pinpoint test.
Note: Clearing the transaxle control module (TCM) DTCs erases any TCM recorded freeze frame data. Make sure to record any TCM freeze frame information before proceeding any further. Refer to the scan tool instruction manual for freeze frame PID menu.
- Record and clear the PCM and TCM continuous DTCs.
- Clear and retrieve TCM continuous DTCs.
Is TCM continuous DTC P1A08 present during the self-test?
YES
GO to TI3.
NO
Unable to duplicate or identify the concern at this time.
DISREGARD the current diagnostic trouble code (DTC) at this time. DIAGNOSE the next DTC. GO to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Charts and Descriptions Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions.

TI3 KOEO DTC P1A08: CHECK THE TCM GENERATOR MODE PID
- Key ON, engine OFF.
- Access the TCM and monitor the GENMODE PID.
- Key ON, engine running.
Does the PID indicate that the GENMODE changed when the key is cycled from RUN to START?
YES
INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. REFER to Automatic Transaxle/Transmission.
NO
GO to TI4.

TI4 CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all the PCM connectors.
- Visually inspect for:
- pushed out pins
- corrosion
- Connect all the PCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Carry out the PCM self-test and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
YES
INSTALL a new PCM.
REFER to Flash Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) Flash Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM).
NO
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
