Pinpoint Test M: The Autolock Does Not Operate Correctly
Normal Operation
When autolock is enabled the Smart Junction Box (SJB) requires the following inputs:
- Transmission Range (TR) sensor
- Door ajar switches (all doors closed)
- Ignition switch position
- Vehicle speed
The vehicle speed and TR sensor inputs are received through the Controller Area Network (CAN). Once the SJB receives all 4 inputs, the doors automatically lock.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Door ajar switches
- Ignition switch
- Vehicle speed signal
- SJB
PINPOINT TEST M: THE AUTOLOCK DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
-------------------------------------------------
M1 VERIFY THE AUTOLOCK FEATURE IS ENABLED
- Verify the autolock feature is enabled. Refer to Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming.
- Is the autolock feature enabled?
Yes
GO to M2.
No
PROGRAM the autolock feature. REFER to Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming Autolock and Auto-Unlock Programming.
-------------------------------------------------
M2 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION
- Open and close each door, liftgate and liftgate window glass while checking the courtesy lamp operation.
- Do the courtesy lamps operate correctly?
Yes
GO to M3.
No
REFER to Lighting and Horns.
-------------------------------------------------
M3 CHECK THE SJB PIDs
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB DataLogger .
- Monitor the SJB transmission gear selected PID (TRANSGEAR).
- Monitor the SJB ignition switch status PID (IGN R/S).
- Monitor the SJB vehicle speed PID (VSS_GEM).
- Are the correct values received?
Yes
GO to M4.
No
To diagnose an incorrect vehicle speed PID, REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems.
To diagnose an incorrect transmission gear selected PID, REFER to Automatic Transmission/Transaxle &/or Transmission Control Systems.
To diagnose an incorrect ignition switch status PID, REFER to Steering Column.
-------------------------------------------------
M4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
