Pinpoint Test S: The Door Ajar Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
The door ajar warning indicator informs the driver that one or more doors, the liftgate or the liftglass is open while the ignition key is in the RUN position. When a door, liftgate, or liftglass is ajar, the Smart Junction Box (SJB) sends a message to the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to illuminate the door ajar warning indicator.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- SJB
- IC
PINPOINT TEST S: THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

S1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR LAMPS
- Open and close each door, the liftgate, and the liftgate glass, while monitoring the interior lamps.
- Do the interior lamps operate correctly?
Yes
GO to S2.
No
REFER to Lighting and Horns.

S2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes
For DTC U0140, GO to Pinpoint Test AQ. Pinpoint Tests AQ: DTC U0140
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts. Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes
No
GO to S3.

S3 CARRY OUT THE IC INDICATOR LAMP ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC door ajar warning lamp (DRAJLMP) active command. Command the door ajar warning indicator on and off. Observe the door ajar warning indicator.
- Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate when commanded on, and turn off when commanded off?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.
