CVT - M/S Drive Position
CVT - M/S Drive Position
Function
When the driver shifts from the D position to the Manual/Sport position, the DME engine management system engages the Sport automatic drive position. The "M" LED now lights up on the selector lever and "S" is displayed in the instrument cluster. This drive position is configured in such a way that drive commands are implemented more spontaneously. The rotational speed level is increased. However this drive position is less comfortable than the D drive position.
If the driver requests a manual gear change via either the selector lever or the steering wheel switches (special equipment), the control module engages the corresponding operating mode, selects a suitable gear according to the activation conditions and transmits a signal to the instrument cluster to display this gear. The driver has at his disposal six manually selectable gears which can be changed using the selector lever or the steering wheel switches (special equipment). When predefined upper and lower rpm limits are reached, the CVT transmission shifts automatically into a suitable gear in order to protect the engine and transmission against damage. The vehicle remains in the manual operating mode until the selector lever is returned to the D position.
