Replacing Left or Right Trailing Arm




33 32 000 - Removing and installing complete left or right trailing arm





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove brake disk Removing and Installing/Replacing Both Brake Discs (Rear)
- Remove wheel speed sensor Replacing a Rear Pulse Generator from trailing arm
After completing tasks, carry out wheel alignment check





Release nut (1), gripping with Allen key or open-end wrench.

Installation:
Replace self-locking nut.
Tightening torque 33 55 2AZ Rear Axle - Stabilizer Bar





Support trailing arm.
Release screws (1).
Remove upper and lower control arms from trailing arm.

Installation:
Tightening torque 33 32 1AZ Control Arms And Struts (Rear)





Unscrew bolt (1).

Installation:
Tightening torque 33 52 1AZ Shock Absorbers (Rear)





Mark position of trailing arm console with respect to body (1) to facilitate subsequent toe-in adjustment.
Release screws (2) and remove trailing arm.

Installation:
Tightening torque 33 32 5AZ Control Arms And Struts (Rear)

The following components must be modified when the trailing arm is replaced:

- Wheel bearing Replacing Bearing for Rear Wheel
- Rubber mount Replacing a Rubber Mount in Semi-Trailing Arm, Front in trailing arm at front





Note:
In vehicles from 05/03, self-tapping screws for securing the trailing arm console to the threaded connection are used.
When the trailing arm is replaced, the thread with a new bolt must be tapped outside the car into the trailing arm.
Tightening down must be carried out in the vehicle in the normal position (see below).





Important!
When the trailing arm is replaced, the screw connection between trailing arm console and trailing arm must be performed in the normal position in the vehicle.
In vehicles before 05/03, the panel on the longitudinal member must be detached up to the center of vehicle.
