Removing and Installing Lumbar Support on Front Seat (TU)




52 13 055 - Removing and installing lumbar support on front seat (TU)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove rear panel on front seat Removing and Installing/Replacing Backward Backrest Panel on Left or Right Front Seat (Normal/Manual)
Turn handwheel for lumbar support so as to produce the lowest possible lumbar support.





Detach lumbar support handwheel (1) from backrest.
Pull cover fastener (2) off backrest frame.
On lumbar support handwheel side only:
Lever welt (3) out of backrest frame.
Disengage tensioning wire (4) from backrest frame.





Detach handwheel (2) from threaded shells (1) of adjustment unit.

Note:
Handwheel can only be removed with a great exertion of force.
If necessary, replace damaged handwheel.





Overview of lumbar support:
1. Counter-support
2. Threaded pin (adjustment unit)
3. Threaded shells
4. Handwheel

Installation:
Position threaded shells parallel on threaded pin.





Pull off felt strip (1).
Disengage Bowden cable (2) from lumbar support (3).

Installation:
If necessary, replace felt strip.
Lay Bowden cable behind spring wire frame area (4).





Disengage lumbar support from spiral springs (1).
Feed lumbar support (2) out of backrest frame.
Fit spiral springs inside cross-wires.

Installation:
Check function.
