Repair instructions
Repair instructions regarding convertible top that cannot be opened

Complaint
The sliding roof opens.
The catches remain closed and the pump is not activated.
The convertible top cannot be opened.

Cause
After operation of the loading aid or of the rear window shelf, it can occur that on lowering the clamping bracket the rear window shelf chafes on the bracket for the rear window shelf and in individual cases gets stuck. This means that the rear window shelf is not correctly stored in the summer position and the micro-switch is not operated. This means that the convertible top cannot be operated. See Fig. 1.

Repair instruction
1. Heat the bracket of the rear window shelf with a hot air blower and bend it slightly. Wait for it to cool down to achieve a gap of 3 mm between the bracket for the rear window shelf and the surface area for the rear side panel. See Fig 2.
2. Check the correct seating of the rear window shelf in the winter position. See Fig. 3.
3. Grease the bearing journal and rubber grommet. See Fig. 4.
4. Replace both retaining belts. See Fig. 5.

Note
The longer retaining belts will be deployed as series standard in production week 37 and are also available as of week 38 as a service part for retail.
