Alternator: Service and Repair




12 31 020 - Removing and installing/replacing alternator





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit
- Check stored fault messages
- Switch off ignition
- Disconnect battery Instructions for Disconnecting and Connecting Battery
- Remove alternator drive belt
- Remove intake air manifold Service and Repair





Unlock plug (2) and remove.
Release nut (1) and remove battery positive lead.

Installation:
Tightening torque 12 31 2AZ.





Release screws (1) and remove alternator.

Installation:
Tightening torque 12 31 1AZ.





Note:
- Clear fault memory
