Special tools required:
Requirements for correct adjustments:
- Front door correctly adjusted
- Car must stand on its wheels
Necessary preliminary tasks:
Adjust front door window glass inclination.
Ideal adjustment, retraction depth:
Open door, engage special tool 51 3 080 on door window glass and close door.
Measure retraction depth at positions (1 to 3).
Dimensions:
1 = 5 ± 1 mm
2 = 5 ± 1 mm
3 = 4.5 ± 1 mm
Adjusting retraction depth:
Remove outer window cavity cover strip
IMPORTANT: Tape off door in working area of special tool 51 3 240.
Feed in special tool 51 3 240 between supports (1) and place on nut (2) in between.
Slacken nut (2) with special tool 51 3 240 until door window can be moved.
Attach special tool 51 3 010 and adjust door window.
Check adjustment. If necessary, repeat procedure.
Tightening torque 51 32 1AZ.
Initialize power window.
Ideal adjustment, pre-tension:
NOTE: Pre-tension is checked with installed window cavity cover strip. Special tool 51 0 351 creates gap for measuring pretension. No force must be exerted on the door or door window glass during measurement.
Insert special tool 51 0 351 in rotary striker of door lock and press in up to end stop. Window glass then travels to uppermost position. Carefully leave door slightly open until magnet makes contact with striker.
Slide special tool 51 0 352 at distance (B) to door window glass side edge into seal (1) and measure dimension (A) to outside edge of door window glass (2).
Dimension (A) with window cavity cover strip:
A = 36 ± 2 mm
B = 10 mm
