SITUATION
The customer states that the clutch is slipping or grabbing.
PROCEDURE
Inspect the vehicle's manual transmission clutch for proper operation.
^ Verify full clutch pedal travel without restrictions
^ Hydraulic clutch components operate properly (no leaks, bled correctly)
^ Clutch fully releases
If repairing one or more of the points above solves the problem and the customer's complaint is no longer present, clutch assembly inspection and replacement is not necessary. However, if the customer complaint is still present, a clutch assembly inspection is necessary.
Refer to Repair Instruction 21 21 500, "Removing and Installing or Replacing Clutch."
^ Measure the clutch disc for wear; or
^ Inspect for a "consequential" clutch failure resulting from engine or transmission oil leaks or a hydraulic fluid leak.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
Replacement of a manual transmission clutch assembly resulting from a defect in materials or workmanship is covered under the terms of the MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty.
Replacement of a manual transmission clutch assembly due to a worn clutch disc is covered under the terms of the MINI Maintenance Program.
Customers requesting special consideration are to be handled according to the normal goodwill policy.
