Playback errors with self-made or scratched CDs
The use of home-made CDs in the vehicle is not without its problems. In comparison with home stereo systems, more difficult conditions with regard to temperature fluctuations, vibrations and shocks prevail in motor vehicles. For these reasons, disturbances can occur in motor vehicles that do not occur when the CDs are used at home. In the event of customer complaints in this respect, it must first be determined which type of data media lead to disturbances. It is inherent in the technology that recordable CDs are very sensitive to mechanical damage (scratches, dirt), storage and operation at high temperature. The burning process also has a great influence on the quality of the medium created.
In the event of playback problems resulting from the data media used and not resulting from an error in the device, replacing the drive is not a viable remedy. For this reason, only replace the device when it has been ensured that the complaint is not the result of the CDs used.
