Mini uses an on-board computer system to determine when a service should be done on a vehicle. The system takes into account driving habits (hard/soft acceleration, temperatures, number of starts, etc.) to calculate when the optimum time is due for a service. The system will then light an "indicated service" due light on the dash to let the driver know it is time for service.
