Starter Motor: Service and Repair



12 41 020 Removing And Installing/Replacing Starter Motor (N12, N14, N16, N18)







Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Clamp off battery.
- Remove intake silencer housing.
- Remove right wheel
- N12 and N16 only: Remove tank vent valve.

NOTE: For a better overview, the following operation is shown on the engine after it has been removed.







N14and N16only:
Loosen screws and set vacuum tank (1) aside.







Release screw.
Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ







Unlock connector (1) and remove.
Release nut (2) and remove the positive battery cable.
Tightening torque 12 41 2AZ .
Release screws.
Tightening torque 12 41 1AZ .
Remove holder (3) and starter motor.







Installation note:
Install starter motor and fit screws.

Press starter motor (1) in direction of arrow and tighten down.
