Contaminated Service Equipment

Service equipment must be used with only one refrigerant. Recycling equipment, hoses, gauges, and manifolds used for R134a systems cannot be used for servicing R12 systems. A shop that services both R134a systems and R12 systems must have duplicate sets of equipment. The practice of flushing a system with CFCs can no longer be continued because federal and local laws prohibit venting of CFCs into the atmosphere.
