Automatic transmission malfunctions may be caused by improper maintenance, improperly adjusted components, mechanical and hydraulic malfunctions or poor engine performance. In the event of a malfunctioning transmission, the fluid level and condition of the fluid should first be checked. If the condition of the fluid and the fluid level is satisfactory, ensure proper adjustment of the manual linkage, then throttle control cable and other vehicle components from which if not set correctly, improper transmission operation may result.
