PURPOSE This bulletin describes the field installation of a computer modulator and harness for use in correcting a sag or bucking condition when the car's engine is cold.
VEHICLES AFFECTED This information applies to 1984 and 1985 non-intercooled Starions up to the following VINs:

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the glove box under cover and disconnect the in-car A/C sensor. See Fig. 2.

3. Remove the right side cowl kick panel. Fig. 3.

4. Disconnect and remove the ECI computer. Fig. 4.
FIGURE 5:
5. Apply the foam tape to the edge of the computer as shown in Fig. 5.

6. Connect the wiring harness assembly from the kit to the computer as shown in Fig. 6.

7. Connect the harness ass'y to the control harness as shown in Fig. 7.

8. Remove the glove box. Fig. 8.

9. Remove the glove box striker, Fig. 9.

10. Reinstall the computer, and arrange the harness as shown in Fig. 10.

NOTE: When reinstalling the computer, be sure it clears the harness and does not pinch it. See Fig. 11.

NOTE: Clip the harness to the front harness at the point marked by yellow tape, and route the harness over the air duct to support it as in Fig. 10. Connect the ground wire to the computer mounting screw.

11. Secure the modulator to the bracket with four screws. See Fig. 12.

12. Connect the modulator to the harness as shown in Fig. 13.

13. Attach the bracket together with the glove box striker as in Fig. 14.
14. Reconnect and reinstall components removed earlier, start the engine and confirm that the condition is corrected.
