SUBJECT: 1985 MODEL EMISSIONS CERTIFICATION

PURPOSE Certain MMSA vehicle models are certified for both California and 50 state markets. The purpose of this bulletin is to update the 1985 Service Manuals to show these models.

As reference to these changes, please write the STB number of this bulletin on the pages listed below.

1985 Galant Service Manual, page 3.
1985 Starion Service Manual, page 3
1985 Starion Supplement, page 3
1985 Mirage Service Manual, page 4
1985 Truck Service Manual, page 4

Note: Model charts in the 1985 Technical Highlights booklet are also affected.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES
1. California Galant is certified as a 50-state vehicle.
2. The California turbo Cordia/Tredia models are 50-state certified.
3. Two new model codes are added for Federal and California Starions. The California Starion is certified as a 50-state vehicle.
4. The California turbo Mirage is certified as a 50-state vehicle.
5. The California diesel truck is not certified as a 50-state vehicle.

The changes required to correct the Service Manual Vehicle Identification Number Lists are illustrated on the following pages.



1985 CORDIA/TREDIA SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 4 Revise the Vehicle Identification Number List to show "Federal and California" for the California turbo model . . . as shown below.



1985 GALANT SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 3 In the Vehicle Identification Number List, add the words "Federal and" above "California" as shown below.



1985 STARION SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 3

Add two new model codes to the Vehicle Identification Number List as shown below.



1985 STARION SERVICE MANUAL SUPPLEMENT, PAGE 3 Add an asterisk (*) and footnote to show that the 1985.5 California Starion Intercooler is certified as a 50-state vehicle.



1985 MIRAGE SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 4 Add asterisk (*) and a footnote to show that the California Mirage turbo is certified as a 50-state vehicle.



1985 TRUCK SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 4 Delete the asterisk next to the California diesel truck to indicate that this model is not certified as a 50-state vehicle.
