Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve Replacement


1. Disconnect the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve connector.

Note:
This connector contains a Green wire.





2. Remove the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve (Figure 26).

3. Remove the new green Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve from the EMR-92-009 emission kit.

Note:
Before removing the new Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve from the plastic bag, READ THE CAUTION LABEL!

4. Insert the new Jet Mixture Solenoid into the carburetor and TIGHTEN IT BY HAND.

CAUTION:
If the solenoid threads seems to bind when threaded by hand into the carburetor. DO NOT FORCE IT INTO THE CARBURETOR. Loosen and then retighten the solenoid valve to work the burrs off the threads.





5. Place the crow-foot wrench onto the torque wrench at a 90 degree angle (Figure 27).

Note:
If you place the crow-foot wrench in line with the torque wrench, the torque reading will be incorrect.





6. Using the INCH lb. torque wrench and a 13 mm crow-foot wrench (Figure 28), torque the Jet Mixture Solenoid Valve to 22-30 INCH lbs.

CAUTION:
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE JET MIXTURE SOLENOID VALVE. OVERTIGHTENING WILL DISTORT THE VALVE AND CAUSE AN OVER RICH CONDITION.

If the EMR-90-008 Emission Recall Completed Label IS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE, proceed to EGR Passage Cleaning.
