90mitsubishi10 SUBJECT:
1986 CALIFORNIA 2.0L TRUCK EMISSION

RECALL
NO. EMR-90-003 REVISION

DATE June, 1990

MODEL 1986 Truck
This Bulletin supercedes EMR-90-003, dated April 1990, which should be discarded.

PURPOSE

This bulletin provides a detailed procedure for inspection and repair of the emission control system on certain 1986 2.0L California Gasoline Emission Specification Trucks. A letter has been sent to all owners of the affected vehicles telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors dealer to have the engine serviced. A copy of this letter is shown on page 20 of this bulletin.

Please note that the customer is not to be charged for the repairs covered by this bulletin. To achieve the desired results, the procedure MUST be followed EXACTLY as described in this bulletin.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
All dealerships MUST perform all steps as described in this bulletin. Incomplete repairs will lead to emissions-non-compliance and obvious customer dissatisfaction. The California Air Resources Board ("CARB") may survey the results of this campaign several months after starting. If incomplete repairs or non compliance is found, another recall could be ordered or other action undertaken by CARB. Confirm that you are using the proper Technical Service Bulletin repair procedures and service kits for the vehicle model year and engine size that you are working on. Service procedures and kits are different even though some vehicles may look alike.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

This procedure applies to 1986 California 2.0L Gasoline Emission Specification Truck models with manual or automatic transmission without limitation as to mileage. It does not apply to any other models.
