Since communication is between different components, the problem could be caused by either a failed audio component or a malfunctioning remote display. The troubleshooting chart includes some typical problems.

Special Audio Test Mode (Testing Without Center Display)

The head unit has an operation check function which allows it to work by itself, without being connected to the center display. If the problem is in the center display, the audio head unit may also appear to have a problem. This function can be used to confirm proper audio unit operation independent of the center display.
