Ignition Control Module: Testing and Inspection
1. Refer to CHASSIS ELECTRICAL wiring diagrams to determine which wire is power supply for the igniter.2. If power is available, perform a spark function test. Pull the coil wire loose from the distributor cap, hold the end 0.25 in. from a metal surface while an assistant cranks the engine. A blue/white spark should be present.
3. If no spark is present, refer to IGNITION COIL and perform component test.
4. If the Coil checks OK, refer to PICK-UP COIL (SIGNAL GENERATOR) and perform component test.
5. If the Pick-up Coil checks OK, replace the igniter. (Refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR)
