Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect switch electrical connector, then remove switch from transmission case allowing fluid to drain into a container.
2. Move selector lever to Park and Neutral positions, ensuring switch operating lever fingers are centered in switch opening in transmission case.
3. Install switch using a new seal and torque to 25 ft. lbs.
4. Using an ohmmeter ensure continuity is present between center pin of switch and transmission case. Continuity should exist only when transmission is in Park or Neutral.
5. Add transmission fluid to fill transmission to proper level.
