Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

1. Disable airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
2. On 3000GT models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove cup holder and console plug.
b. Remove rear console assembly.
c. Disconnect SRS diagnosis unit as outlined under DISCONNECTING SRS DIAGNOSIS UNIT.
d. Remove SRS diagnosis unit.
3. On Sigma models, proceed as follows:
a. Remove rear console assembly.
b. Remove center console panel and side cover.
c. Remove radio assembly.
d. Disconnect SRS diagnosis unit as outlined under DISCONNECTING SRS DIAGNOSIS UNIT.
e. Remove SRS diagnosis unit.
4. On Diamante models, remove ashtray, then floor console assembly.
5. Disconnect SDU harness connectors.
6. Remove SRS diagnosis unit attaching bolts, then SRS diagnosis unit.
7. On all models, inspect SRS diagnosis unit as follows:
a. Check SRS diagnosis unit case and brackets for dents.
b. Check connectors and locks for damage and terminals for deformities.
c. Replace SRS diagnosis unit if cracks, deformation or rust is discovered.

8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Perform inspection procedure before installing SRS diagnosis unit.
b. With projection of unit placed against bracket as shown in Fig. 12, securely install SRS diagnosis unit. The SRS may not activate properly if the SRS diagnosis unit is not installed properly.
c. After connecting each harness connector securely and correctly, ensure to press down the lock lever of the SRS diagnosis unit.
d. Perform POST INSTALLATION INSPECTION.
