Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Remove floor console and instrument panel as outlined under BODY ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND ENTERTAINMENT/INSTRUMENT PANELS AND CLUSTERS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
4. Remove center reinforcement, Fig. 19.
5. Remove righthand shower, distribution foot and center ducts.
6. On models equipped with A/C, remove evaporator assembly as outlined under EVAPORATOR CORE.
7. On all models, to prevent bolts from falling into blower assembly, set air selection damper to outside air induction position.
8. Remove heater unit assembly.

9. Remove plate from heater unit, Fig. 20.
10. Remove heater core from heater unit. Use caution not to damage heater core fins or pad part of heater core.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
