Air Cleaner Housing: Description and Operation

Air Cleaner And Components:

PURPOSE
The air cleaner keeps harmful dirt and debris from entering the engine. The air cleaner filter is a replaceable paper element in a remote canister.

LOCATION
The canister's main body is attached to the right fenderwell. The clip-on lid is attached to the intake manifold surge tank via a flexible hose coupling. The air cleaner also houses (attached to the lid) the volume air flow meter, barometric pressure sensor and the intake air temperature sensor.

All components contained in the air cleaner are ECU sensors, for further description, or testing of these components refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.
