Procedure D: Widening Front Window Track

FOR VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 3/92

1. Remove the door mirror trim and loosen the three mirror bolts.

2. Next to the door mirror, pull about 7 inches of the rubber runchannel away from the front window track.

3. Measure the inside width of the front track in at least three locations. The track width should be 11-12 mm.

4. If the front track width is less than 11-12 mm, the track needs widening. To widen the track, fabricate an 11 mm-wide stick from a small piece of wood. Then, run the stick along the inside of the track until it slides easily.

5. Tighten the mirror bolts 2 N-m (1.5 ft.lbs.). To avoid distorting the front track, do not overtighten the bolts.

6. Insert the front runchannel into the track and test the window operation. If the window operates normally, reassemble the door panel and mirror trim, and return the vehicle to the customer. (Refer to the NOTE under Procedure A.) If the window is still difficult to operate, go to PROCEDURE E.
