Oxygen Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The heated oxygen sensor detects the concentration of oxygen in the exhaust gas. This information in sent to the engine control module to check whether the air-fuel mixture ratio is richer or leaner than the theoretical one. The heated oxygen sensor is provided with the heater to allow closed loop control of the air-fuel mixture ratio in a shorter time after the engine is started.
