Inspection Procedure 26
CIRCUIT OPERATION- The ECM
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for this code to be set are:
- Malfunction of charging system.
- Short circuit in harness between generator G terminal and ECM.
- Short circuit in harness between generator G terminal and PCM.
- ECM failed.
- PCM failed.

DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check voltage at PCM connector C-39 .
1. When the following conditions are satisfied, measure voltage between terminal number 33
a. Engine: Warm at idle
b. Radiator fan: stopped
c. Headlight switch: "OFF" "ON"
d. Rear defogger switch: "OFF" "ON"
e. Stoplight switch: "OFF" "ON"
- Voltage rises by 0.2 - 3.5 volts. If not within the specifications, go to Step 2.
If within the specifications, replace the generator. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 2. Check the harness wire between generator connector B46 and ECM connector C-46
NOTE: Check the wire after checking intermediate connector B-11. If intermediate connector B-11 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection >. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the wire between generator connector B-46 and ECM connector C-36
If the wire between generator connector B-46 and ECM connector C-36
STEP 3. Check for damage of harness connector C-36 at the ECM
If harness connector C-36
If harness connector C-36
Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
