Keyless Entry Transmitter: Testing and Inspection
METHOD OF REGISTERING A CRYPTOGRAPHIC CODEA unique cryptographic code is written in each transmitter. In the following cases the cryptographic code needs to be registered in the EEPROM in the control unit.
- When the transmitter or control unit is replaced.
- When a second transmitter is added.
- When the cryptographic code registration is suspected of being faulty due to a problem.
A maximum of two different cryptographic codes for two transmitters can be registered in the EEPROM's available memory. When the first cryptographic code is registered any two previously registered cryptographic codes will be erased, so when there are two transmitters, or when adding a second transmitter, both of the cryptographic codes to be used need to be re-registered.
1. Check that the regular door lock function operates using key operation.
2. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
NOTE: At this moment, No. 1 terminal of the data link connector becomes grounded and a code is ready to be registered.
CAUTION: Turn off the ignition switch before connecting or disconnecting the scan tool.
3. Close all doors.
4. Set the ignition switch to ACC and return it to OFF.
5. To register the code push the transmitter's any switch and then push it two times within 10 seconds.
6. After registration is completed, the door lock operates, lock and unlock, once.
7. When there are two transmitters, or when adding a second transmitter, conduct the same procedure for the second registration within 1 minute after the first registration mode is set. When the second registration is completed, the door locks will automatically lock and unlock once.
8. Registration mode finishes under the following conditions.
- Registration of two transmitter codes are completed.
- One minute has passed since the registration mode setting.
- Scan tool connection is disconnected. (ground mode is released.)
- Ignition switch is turned ON.
- Any of the doors are opened.
9. After the registration mode is completed, conduct the following operations to check the operation of the keyless entry.
- Remove the ignition key.
- Close all doors.
